• Arcana - Lore about magic things & places
• History - Events, people, wars
• Investigation - Discerning specific things about an object or place
• Nature - Lore about plants, animals, nature
• Religion - Lore about prayers, gods, holy symbols

If a party comes across an item, and the rogue picks it up first, the DM might call for an Intelligence (Investigation) check to discern what they know about it. If the wizard picks it up first, the DM might decide it crackles with magical energy, so an Intelligence (Arcana) check is more appropriate.

Wizards use Intelligence as their spellcasting ability.
