A PC needs 1 pound of food per day.

Rationing half would equal a half-day without food.

3 + Constitution Modifier = Number of days a character can go without food.

Every day over this amount adds an exhaustion level.
A PC needs 1 gallon of water a day, 2 if it's hot.

Drinking half requires a successful DC 15 Constitution Saving Throw each day,
or incrementing an exhaustion level on a failure.

Less water than half is an instant exhaustion level increase.
If a PC already has one or more levels of exhaustion, they instead take two
levels for both food and water.
